7-6-2019 Wow! Really great day hiking the trail. Did the 10 mile FNL. Be sure to bring plenty of water or a pump filter if you plan to hike this time of year in the heat. There are multiple creek crossings and if it has been raining these can be a challenge to cross. Most had standing water or little to no water.
I recently hiked a portion of the Lone Star Hiking Trail and spent nearly three hours on a point-to-point section. It was a peaceful and immersive experience in nature — exactly what I was looking for.
The Four-Notch loop is a little under 10 miles and easily manageable for a solid day-hike. In some parts one must pay attention to the trail signs, but overall it was relatively easy to navigate.
Great trail especially if you want something longer than 2-3 miles. Even a few ravines to traverse! Dog loved it too.
