Confirmed from Long Meadow Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Amazing walk 1.7 miles. Back and forward makes 3.4 miles. Beautifull views riverside walks enjoy nature an a nice walk.

★★★★★ — Claudia , May 2023

It's very easy walking. Unfortunately, the trail just goes 2 miles along the river and then there's a sign saying you have to turn back. So there's no loop. You just return to the parking area down the same trail. I don't really enjoy that much but it was a nice walk anyways.

★★★★☆ — Gregg , Jun 2022

For being in town this a great getaway from everything. All kinds of cool little trails to take to the water. Keep an eye out for arrow heads! Safe and easy for toddlers and kids. A little muddy after major rains.

★★★★★ — Daniel , Feb 2025

A Bridge is washed out half way through the trail. Today there was a padlock on the gate so you can't pull in the parking lot. The last flooding did some damage to certain sections of the Alamance Haw River Trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
