Confirmed from Lorain County Metro Parks High Meadows Shelter #1's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Lorain County Metro Parks High Meadows Shelter #1

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (191 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 14 mentions

“Great playground equipment for kids, clean and well kept trails, and even the rangers and maintenance staff always wave and are polite!”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“Access to beautiful, rolling 10-mile trail to the Lake at the mouth of the Black River.”

Great clean park.. This park has amazing walking trails and a super clean and fun playground that the kids love.. This park also has a pavilion rental for parties with a outside grill! Plenty of seating and exercise along with great parking!

A good place to walk the dog. I like the new 3 way drinking fountain, it can fill containers, a regular water fountain, and a built in pet bowl that drains automatically so the water is always fresh.

★★★★★ — William , May 2018

We bring our kids here all the time, and they love it. They love to go to "the park with the tire swing." The park (playground and trail) is always clean, never overly crowded. When there is a little bit of crowd, there's more than enough space and shade to play in the grass (soccer, volleyball, football, etc.).

★★★★★ — Jen , Jun 2020

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the serenity and peace I feel in this place when jogging the trail. I never feel threatened by other patrons, just a friendly environment!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 7 mentions

“Great place for a picnic or small gathering, kids play areas, clean restrooms, calm and quite location.”
