This is a fabulous park with split personality. Part is a large sports complex but there are also different playgrounds, a flat, paved accessible walking trail, and side foot and mountain biking trails. We spent most of our time on the trails including by the ravine (and salmon stream).
My dog and I love this park! It’s huge and spacious with lots of different trails. It’s well-lit and feels pretty safe at night. There’s a lot of different amenities (playground, skate park, soccer & baseball fields, etc). There’s also plenty of bathrooms and water fountains.
Maidu Regional Park is a great community resource. In addition to baseball fields, basketball courts, and soccer fields it has a skateboard park, indoor sports field, batting cage, and bike trails. There are multiple children’s playgrounds with climbing structures and slides.
The covered picnic areas with built-in barbecues made planning our afternoon pretty straightforward. We spent some time on the paved trail, let the kids check out the western-themed playground and maze, and still had plenty of open space around us — it was an easy place to move between activities.
