Confirmed from Main Reservoir Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Laid-back park with picnic tables, a trail around the lake and a reservoir for fishing.

Nice park... I walk my dog there. Nice path around the lake with shaded areas. There is a dock for fishing. I have not fished there yet but I have heard that you can catch some good sized fish. Several people have mentioned that they catch something every time they go.

This reservoir is right at west side of Kipling and north of Starbucks across the Kingsooper. There is parking lot to the west of Starbucks's, nice quite and easy walk. Good family walk as well as dog walk.

This lake has a trail that encircles it. Half is paved and has little shade but a great view of Downtown. The other half of the path is dirt and gravel and can get muddy after wet weather. Geese and ducks inhabit the area, bird watchers frequent the path. Fishing is allowed but no swimming or boating.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
