Confirmed from Mamacoke Island Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Mamacoke Island Natural Area
Fantastic place! Great for hikes, has a lil beach, some rock climbing/bouldering, purdy trees and often deer, and even a rope swing! Boots are nice to get there, but crocs are water-proof too so thats what I reccomend.... or bare feet.
Great spot. A little marshy and wet at times, but good for walking and hiking. Not technically supposed to run, but went for a track meet and there were many people warming up and running around. Small trails that are a bit technical but overall very nice!
Hidden gem. Great short hike. Nice views and good places for a picnic. Cool rocks near water on north end. Ellen WHAT are you talking about?!
It's a joy to walk with my dog and if you time it right you can walk the grass marsh to the island. I'd love to try the cliff trail, but it's not recommended for my dog (and I'm a bit out of shape, to be honest ;-).

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
