Confirmed from Manastash Ridge Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiker’s hotspot offering a variety of paths with views of the valley, plus wildflowers.
What runners say about Manastash Ridge Trailhead
“It's a great view, a little challenging, but not overly so, and its proximity to Ellensburg is nice.”
The ridge has a very special place in my heart, I've done a lot of soul searching and getting the lead out and enjoying watching the seasons change over the years on these trails. Lots of different trails, some are wooded and have quite a bit of shade.
Fantastic view. Take the chest pain trail to the top if your hiking or on a bike. This trail is less steep. Perfect fall weather hike. A bit teeth jaring on a bike for my taste. Still a great way to spend the day.
Beautiful terrain and well maintained trails, plus a fabulous view at the top. Along the way, trails are not labeled well at all, so check your map if the particular trail matters to you. But I’m down for whatever, so this is on the “do it again” list for sure.
Trail needs maintenance because of high volume tourists. Excellent location ive watched it become more wild over past two decades...grazing pressure decrease maybe love it up there.
Trail conditions & character

“It gets a little steep a quarter mile to half mile in, but after that it’s very manageable upward slope to the halfway point.”
“You will also probably encounter a lot of dogs on the main trail.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
