Confirmed from Mandeville Canyon Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Former mountain fire road with canyon vistas open to dogs & owners plus mountain bikers.
What runners say about Mandeville Canyon Park
“Nothing really scenic but if you mountain bike, it's a great spot to reach an assortment of trails from easy fire roads to technical slopes.”
“Also amazing about this hike is that there is an easy trail and a hard one.”
“It’s dog friendly also and can take them off leashes.”
This is a great hike because it isn't a loop. You can set your goal by mileage or time. If you know you have an hour, you can go up 30 minutes and back 30. Also amazing about this hike is that there is an easy trail and a hard one. And you can hope between both since they run parallel.
Great hike and easy for those not looking for something too challenging. Has awesome views of the ocean and panoramic views of downtown as well once you get up high enough. Best thing is that it’s dog friendly!
One of my favorite hikes here. It’s an in and out and there is one flatter option and one with hills up and down. Takes you around 2-3 hours. Great for talking to friends and enjoying some views over the city.
Great place and location to go on a quick hike. Nothing really scenic but if you mountain bike, it's a great spot to reach an assortment of trails from easy fire roads to technical slopes.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
