Confirmed from Margaret Peak Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Quiet trails, fields and ponds for birding and enjoying nature.
What runners say about Margaret Peak Nature Preserve
“Beautiful spot if you're into nature.”
“It's a nice easy hike, but very little shade, so be prepared for sun if it's sunny.”
“Nice for a long peaceful walk.”
Nice trails but no shade so be prepared. Water is a good idea if you are there during the heat of the day. We saw Grasshopper Sparrow and Dicsissel. Lots of Song Sparrow and Redwing blackbirds. Spotted Sandpiper and another we could not identify. No facilities except one porta-pottie. Recommended.
This is an excellent area for wildlife, one of the best spots for grasslands birds in the area. It's a nice easy hike, but very little shade, so be prepared for sun if it's sunny. Because it's a big open area you really can't get lost, either.
A huge mud puddle was at the beginning of the trail so it wasn't passable. A small footbridge would have been a nice thing to add there. Beautiful spot if you're into nature. If you don't like nature this would be a boring spot for you.
Nice for a long peaceful walk. Sometimes the birds are around in decent numbers. Scenery is ok.
