Confirmed from Martin Road Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Spacious site with basketball hoops, picnic pavilions, an in-line rink, sledding path & playground.
What runners say about Martin Road Park
“Love this place, so close to my house, easy convenient parking, always clean, the kids have a blast every time, always a lot to do there.”
Love coming here. It's super well maintained and you always see people utilizing the park. I walk my dog there all the time since I live nearby and also run a small summer camp and take my campers here once a week. One of the three playgrounds is ADA compliant and all are awesome.
It's a large park with a huge hill (perfect for sledding in winter) and they even have newer equipment! Hockey area, smaller kid area? You really can't go wrong at this park. I recommend it to anyone in the Ferndale/Hazel Park area.
Nice park where I enjoy taking my dogs for a walk! We enjoy running up and down the stairs of the hill to tire them out, too. Not huge, but gets the job done for my small dogs and by nice surrounding neighborhoods.
Amazing, clean, FANTASTIC! A mom of twin toddlers dream park with splash pad, walking path, park, and a hill. Will definitely be returning.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
