We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Martin's Landing yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Beautiful few and quick way to walk from sterling to rock falls and a great way to relax on the way would help to have out houses for the walkers”

I love walking around and sitting watching the river. 😊 I go more towards the end of the day ☺️

I've rode my bike down there more times than I can count over the past 25 years. A great place to relax, unwind, and maybe skip a few rocks. The newer path that goes over the river is beautiful. I would've gotten into much more trouble as a kid if would've been there then lol.

I had a State Rep from Rockford in town and showed him Martin’s Landing and our part of the Rock River. He was so impressed with our facilities and the Pelicans you can see from the walking bridge.

It's a great place to go walking fishing, and relaxing. Bathrooms are available only during spring, summer, & early fall. Yes, you can go picnicking. There is a big gazebo and some benches.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
