Confirmed from McFarland Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“A Marine Park, a very beautiful view of the Tennessee River, needs to improve public service , and there's a dock.”

I love this park. There are so many different things here for everyone. There is a beach, picnic tables, a paved walking path, pavilions for parties, there is primitive and rv camping, they have a lighthouse, porch type swings and benches, a marina with open and covered boat slips for boats of all sizes, there is a…

A Marine Park, a very beautiful view of the Tennessee River, needs to improve public service , and there's a dock. ( ‏One more thing, this river runs between three states, Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee).

Such a nice city park. Lots to offer here, boating, fishing, walking, camping. The campground is busy and fills up. Some sites with water & cliffs view with full hookups. Beautiful views! Playground for children.

Great outdoor recreation area on the Tennessee River. Plenty of room for parking and a picnic, with quite a few people seen fishing from the bank. Terrain was nice for a good walk by the river. Enjoyed seeing a little family of geese during our visit.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
