Confirmed from McGee Creek Natural Scenic State Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about McGee Creek Natural Scenic State Recreation Area
“The scenic nature area has nice hiking trails through rocky wooded areas, with maps of each tail asking with distances.”
“Maps are somewhat crude but the trails are pretty well marked once you get out on them.”
This is not the State Park area with facilities. Location is remote and isolated at the end of a 10 mile long, poorly maintained road. Check in at the main house/entrance and grab a map out of the box. Maps are somewhat crude but the trails are pretty well marked once you get out on them.
Definitely primitive area. We hiked one trail and got turned around more than once. Needed a better map...and trails marked better. But enjoyed ourselves, nonetheless.
What a great place for a hike! Off the beaten path, so it ain't busy at all. The friday we went, we were literally the only ones there! Gorgeous views, relaxing woods and lovely silence! Definitely bring a lunch, water and a hearty hiking stick! We plan on camping here in the future!
We had a nice hike on Little Bugaboo trail. It started out hot and humid, but we got caught in a rain storm and that cooled it off.
