Confirmed from McKaig Nature Education Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
89-acre natural preserve featuring undeveloped woods & 2 creeks, offering several hiking trails.

“I went on a day which was a bit overcast and spotty drizzling showers in the area, and it was not crowded at all.”
“Definitely family and dog friendly, and they request dogs are leashed.”
Such a gorgeous nature park. I loved the cadet trail which ran next to the creek, next to some beautiful, big rocks and led us straight to the beach area. The beach is like a gorgeous hidden gem. I was especially touched by the beautiful dog memorial plaques.
Always a great view in this park. Nice quiet and plentiful paths for a 4 mile trail run.
Visiting from out of town and found this trail on all trails. It was rated at a moderate trail, but I would consider it very easy. Certainly not handicapped accessible, but there were multiple smaller children on this hike. Took my dog and she enjoyed the hike.
Well-maintained nature preserve in Wayne open to all, with lots of short trail choices. Several trails run along a creek or uphill to walk through forested areas. It is a carry in/carry out park which welcomes leashed dogs.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
