Confirmed from Melrose Common's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Melrose Common

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (209 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“The common is well kept by the Park Department crew.”

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Great family-friendly park for kids of all ages.”

The Melrose Common park is one of the jewels of Melrose. I walk my dog there a couple of times a day. For many years I walked/ jogged around the common in early morning. Loved seeing the sun rise over the trees. The common is well kept by the Park Department crew. The kids playground is large and always active.

Great family-friendly park for kids of all ages. Has a nice neighborhood feel and is a short walk to the local convenience store for Richardson's ice cream and/or slush. There's a public restroom at the firehouse but we've found it locked on at least one occasion.

This pack at summer they have so many toys.my 3yr old loves playing and running around. Best swings and the playground is perfect for all activities.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🚻 Restrooms 4 mentions

“The nearest bathroom is just down the road at the little store and while there you can purchase slush.”
