Confirmed from Monolith Garden Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Many iconic rock formations, formed by ancient volcanic activity, can be seen on this trail.

What runners say about Monolith Garden Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (160 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“What a beautiful place to explore, easy enough trail with so many different views of the mountains and the volcanic rock makes interesting formations along the trail.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“There are cool rock formations and nice views, but not many shaded spots, so bring plenty of water.”

This was a really great excursion to get out of the car and stretch your legs for a couple hours. I didn't look carefully enough at the map before I went so I ended up walking quite a bit further than I had planned. There are sections that look a little bit like a miniature monument valley.

A real gem of a trail, slightly hidden, in the middle of Kingman. Seems most locals aren’t even aware of its existence! It was super hot and very dry when we visited, harsh but beautiful. A good variety of trails loops ranging from about 5k to almost 20k. Definitely worth a visit.

Just...wow. I didn't imagine there was such beauty in the desert near Kingman, AZ. It reminds me of the Granite Dells in Prescott: sun-worn, ancient rock formations for miles, with the Hualapais in the background. I tended to stop after work, near sunset, and the moon was waxing toward full.

Nice area to hike. Quite a few miles of trails around cool rock formations. Looking at a map or bringing one on your phone is probably a good idea. We saw people biking and hiking but it also looked like there had been praise recently.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
