Confirmed from Mount Helena's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

If you live in or remotely near Helena, it is a must see. The hike is super easy (less than an hour up), but extremely rewarding with a practically 360⁰ view of Helena, you pass through the big "H" on the mountain, and get to see a small cave in the rocks.

Several trails of differing levels of difficulty. Definitely worth the hike.

Nice trails to the peak (we took the 1906 trail). Pretty steep with as little over 1000 ft of elevation gain from the parking lot to the trail. Great views from the top. Some shade, a shallow cave and a giant letter "H" to view along the way.

We hiked trail 1906. Made it to the summit and WOW! Absolutely gorgeous views. The breeze was great. We just sat up there for awhile taking in all the sites around us. Took us 2 hours to make it to the top (just normal people, kinda fit 🤣) My daughter LOVED it.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 20 mentions

“Nice views (of the surrounding area in the daylight and city lights below at night) along parts of the trail and at the top.”
