Confirmed from Mountain Island Park At Mount Holly Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Mountain Island Park At Mount Holly Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (85 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Mount Holly’s hidden gem. This is a great place for a nature walk or to go fishing. Just sit or stand on a nice rock and enjoy the beauty of the park.

Great 1.5 mile easy hike along the Catawba River just below Moutain Island lake dam. Shady and well maintained with mountain bike trails too.

★★★★★ — Elizabeth , Oct 2020

Have been coming here for a few months now and still love it. It's even better if you get here early and you have the place to yourself if you are biking. There were already some pretty decent trails and now they are adding another that seems like it's going to be a pretty good ride.

★★★★☆ — Mike , Jun 2022

It is a pretty nice park. An actual decent trail in the woods. 1.5 miles each way, so 3 in total. As I said in the woods so you feel a bit secluded despite not having to go far out of the city and have nice river views. And a ton of people fish here, something about the water plant next door.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
