Confirmed from Mt Vernon City Park Office's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Large outdoor area featuring play units, picnic tables and walking trails, plus several types of birds.

“I love walking this park on my lunch break, it has been beautiful watching the leaves change.”
I love walking this park on my lunch break, it has been beautiful watching the leaves change. The entire park is a perfect 30-minute walk. The fountains and special lake part are beautiful as well!
Wonderful park to do everything from walking, basketball and playgrounds to picnicking, tennis and snowcones on a Sunny Day😎 Not to mention the pond full of beautiful ducks and geese to admire😀 Mt. Vernon City Park is a great place to gather with family, friends or just take a journey on your own!
There are a few different playgrounds for the kiddos and a great paved walking trail around the pond. The only downside was lots of teenagers screaming and cussing at each other in front of all the children. Normally, I would overlook that, but it happened constantly both days that we visited.
Was looking for a dog park to let my dog get some much needed exercise while on a road trip. There's a nice big park and pond to walk around. There's also, tennis & basketball courts and a playground for the kiddos.

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
