Confirmed from Myrtle Edwards Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Waterfront recreation area with bike & pedestrian paths, plus an adjacent sculpture park.
What runners say about Myrtle Edwards Park
“It's not a "beach" in the sandy sense, but a long, beautiful shoreline trail that gives you some of the most iconic views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.”
I enjoyed photographing a recent engaged couple here at this sweet park tucked in the city of Seattle! It's a bit tricky to find if you drive there and park on Elliott Ave, so I ended up parking at W Thomas St. and 3rd Ave W and then walked on the bride that crosses over Elliott Ave W (called the Elliott Bay Trail).
This is a great urban park. It has three pocket beaches, walking and biking trails. Lots of benches and beautiful views. You can actually ride your bike from this park all the way to the Ballard Locks following the bike trail.
This beautiful park is an ideal destination for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors, offering a peaceful atmosphere with a variety of amenities, including a small beach area perfect for relaxing by the water, expansive grassy spaces that are great for picnics, lounging, or simply soaking up the sun, and a scenic…
Beautiful long narrow park along the waterfront near downtown Seattle, west of the Sculpture Park and far more impressive. It somehow is not very well known among many Seattlites. It has a long walkway and bike paths, amazing views of the city as well as the Olympic Mountains and Mount Rainier - on a clear day.

“The park is well maintained, but we couldn't find bathrooms.”
“Once we arrived, there's a long paved trail that extends up and down the coast of the Puget Sound.”
“It's a bit tricky to find if you drive there and park on Elliott Ave, so I ended up parking at W Thomas St.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
