Confirmed from Newberry Recreation Complex's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Newberry Recreation Complex
My husband and I just checked out the complex for the first time...took a nice 10 minute walk around Hidden Lake--Will be back!!
This is a beautiful, well thought out complex. The new shade structures really make a difference on sunshine filled days, grandma was extra thankful. The concession stand had so much more than a snickers and soda; the fresh hot grilled food was delicious and the staff were some of the kindest we've encountered.
This was a great place to walk my dog on the trails. I felt safe. The only thing I would recommend, since you do allow dogs, would be a fenced dog park that includes shade and maybe a a splash pool. Dogs like to socialize with other dogs and have the freedom to run off leash and the closest dog parks are in Columbia.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
