Confirmed from Nonnewaug Falls' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly hiking area featuring a waterfall and a babbling brook.
What runners say about Nonnewaug Falls
“The area was beautiful, and the falls and surrounding gorge were just amazing.”
“The reason I gave it four stars is only because the park is not heavily traveled so it can be very peaceful and serene at times.”
“Great, easy hike in a very secluded area!”
Great family friendly hike! The trails are certainly not marked, so here are some tips. When you go through the gate from the parking lot, you will walk about 500 yards before you get to a fork - stay right.
This place feels like a magical hidden gem amongst the trees. Once you arrive to a dirt parking lot (you’ll pass a random house on your left) park and begin walking down the dirt trail. Take the right on the fork and walk uphill through a grassy area and past power lines. Keep going and you’ll start to hear the water.
Such a lovely and breezy little “hike” to a secret feeling waterfall. I followed the guidance of those commenters below and it was so quick to find. Be careful getting down to the waterfall though, it’s very steep!
Took an unexpectedly great walk to the falls today. The area was beautiful, and the falls and surrounding gorge were just amazing. It always surprises me to find these hidden gems that you would never know were even there.
