Confirmed from North Mountain Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
City park with soccer & softball fields, plus a nature center, playground & picnic shelter.
What runners say about North Mountain Park
“My kids thoroughly enjoyed the well maintained gardens, labeled plant life, creek and trail.”
“The easy walking trail begins downhill near a beautiful garden area with signage and ascends uphill to a small playground with a nice view.”
Little something for everyone. Sports fields, nature center, woodland trails, bear creek, public restrooms, kids jungle-gym on the hill overlooking the park,Grizzly Peak and environs. Benches to sit on and take it all in.
I love this park because it features science education by incorporating plant identification with play. My favorite part of the park is on the east side, this is where you can find botanical gardens, animal habitats, amphitheater, and Native American traditional structures.
Not a wooded park, there are a few baseball, soccer, and tennis fields and a small paved bike trail.
It's always a pleasure to take a walk through North Mtn Park. Don't take your pups or you'll have to leave them in the car! They aren't welcome as it protects the natural environment by keeping their scent and feces away. Even if you clean it up, certain animals, etc. may not stay in the area if they smell dogs.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
