The North Oconee River Greenway in Athens, GA is a delightful and spacious path, perfect for a leisurely stroll or a refreshing bike ride. During my visit I was impressed by the well maintained surroundings and the sense of security provided by a police officer patrolling the area on a bicycle.
Visited the greenway in Athens today. Easy trail and flat for the most part. Some scenic views of the Oconee River and photo ops along the way. Trails took about an hour and a half from end-to-end. Maybank Media 7 #atlmediapro
Beautiful Trail. Great view of fall foliage and the river. Smooth walking surface. Dog friendly. Benches and lookouts. Open sunrise to sunset
Finally open! Could be longer. Greenway plan shows it will go all the way along river to make a loop along Firefly trail (will connect to section by Wafflehouse). Trailhead here has parking for 4 or 5 cars. [Edit 11-16-22] now connects all the way to North Oconee Access Rd off College Station
