Confirmed from Walker Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Outdoor park offering a bike trail, playgrounds & a fitness zone with weight & cardio equipment.
What runners say about Walker Park
“The facilities here are well maintained, and there are repair stands for bikes in case something breaks.”
“This is a great park to go to with kids of all ages.”
There are a lot of great trails here. My kids and I walked the longest trail which is the 2.4 mile blue trail. It has a lot of switchbacks in the woods to fit a long trail in a small space. Our favorite spot is where the blue trail meets the red and yellow trails by the river.
Great local sports park with something for everyone! Awesome biking and running trails, plus well-maintained fields for soccer, football, and baseball. Perfect spot to stay active and enjoy the outdoors!
I mountain bike here frequently. For a trail center smack dab in the middle of Athens, this place is great! There's enough variety and challenge to keep the locals coming back, but easy enough to get a beginner started easily.
It was the first time we visited this park. Is amazing for the little ones. You can even reserve it for birthday parties. Just be ready to do a little walk from the parking lot to the park. Bring everything you can. Like sunblock, towels, extra clothes to change, etc. Admission $1.00 adults & kids.
Trail conditions & character
“The bathrooms needed to cleaned much better than they were.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadrestrooms — reported by runners
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
