Confirmed from Northeast Texas Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Concrete, gravel and sand surfaces mark this paved trail that’s ideal for cyclists, walkers and runners.
What runners say about Northeast Texas Trail
“It's clean and easy to walk stroller friendly with exercise stations along the way.”
“This area is a pleasant portion of the trail with access to locations in Farmersville, a picturesque small town, though the trail itself is generally wooded.”
“5 miles of this 130 mi trail is paved or compressed pebble through a canopy of trees offering shade and beautiful fall color.”
“Between the major roads and small towns are peaceful quiet spots with plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing.”
I love this trail! I drive an hour from my home just to walk or bike this trail. It's cement/paved for the first two miles out of Farmersville. Then it changes to a nice pea gravel that's easy on your feet. It's not so easy to bike ride though after a heavy rain.
This trail is nice because of how long it is! It’s a straight pathed trail where you can ride, walk, or run for miles! There are no restrooms but there are portable toilets near the onion shed. The trail has a lot of trees and does get dark quickly because of the trees. However there are lights along the trail.
We only walked 3 miles of this 130 mile trail. You can hike the whole thing from Farmersville, TX to New Boston, TX. They even have camping accommodations for thru hikers. We started in Farmersville. It had a yucky port-a-potty, but a nice parking lot and a good map of the trail.
The trailhead is at the Onion Shed which has a farmer's market first Saturdays each month except January and October. The first 4.5 miles of this 130 mi trail is paved or compressed pebble through a canopy of trees offering shade and beautiful fall color.

“If all 130 miles were maintained with bicycling-safe surfaces, this could be an ADA trail which should be considered by the new Texas state parks oversight voted for in Nov.”
