Confirmed from Northern Terminus, Delaware Canal Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Northern Terminus, Delaware Canal Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (72 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“It was a great view of both the Delaware River and the canal and some basic wildlife viewing - lots of turtles, birds, and dragonflies.”

Nice place, there is some history there. We just walked, but the best here is to ride bicycle. If I'm not mistaken the trail goes till Philadelphia. There is bike repair station which was new for me (I haven't been there in quite some time). It's absolutely free.

I walked a small portion of the trail and I wish I had a bike or something else to cover more land. However, in my short walk, the landscape was picturesque and it was nice to watch the freight trains roll by. I enjoyed the local river and vantage points for photos.

This is the furthest I have ridden on the D&L trail. It was a hot day, but I plan to ride further next time. It has been quite the adventure exploring this trail. Great fun in the sun. 🌞

Walked this section of the towpath on 4th of July in the hot and humid weather. So there were very few people on the path. It was a great view of both the Delaware River and the canal and some basic wildlife viewing - lots of turtles, birds, and dragonflies.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 13 mentions

“This place is full of information of what this trail was use for back in the day, Awesome view of the river, and city skyline, ideal for biking and running.”
