Confirmed from Northfield Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Northfield Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (285 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 11 mentions

“There’s a dog park, tennis courts, the bathrooms were clean, and the playground is great for all ages.”

My 2 and 4 year old really love the playground at this park. The equipment is pretty modern and with lots of options and the best of all is that is covered! The park has also several covered areas/pavilions and several huge green areas!

Best walking trail in town and it connects to so many others. You can walk as many miles as you want and not walk the same path twice if you don't want to.

It's a great park that has a little something for everyone. Dog parks for two different sizes, dog bathing area, trails, sand pit volleyball, basketball, baseball, grills, and playground for kids. It's just a great place. One area of improvement I'd love to suggest is having a baseball field open for freeplay.

Great place to have a picnic, play basketball, tennis 🎾 yes I did say tennis, volleyball, kids playground, and a nice walking path. They also have a dog park for your hairy friends. Great place for the whole family and even a better place to have a large gathering. Fresh clean bathrooms with running water.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
