Confirmed from Norvin Green State Forest's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Norvin Green State Forest

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (636 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“We followed the re-blazed route , (Wyanokie high point via Wyanokie circular loop and Chikahoki fall trail) it was a wonderful experience with stunning views near Carris hill.”

🪧 well-marked 2 mentions

“Very nice area, the trails are clearly marked and easy to read maps posted at intersections.”

Interesting trails with splendid views and multiple stream crossings. We went on a weekend mid November and finished right before a storm hit, so the experience was surreal.

★★★★★ — Heather , Nov 2021

A great place for hiking, we took the yellow and blue trails, the hike was more difficult than I anticipated. It was challenging at times and felt more like a work out at the end as it was a rocky terrain with steep inclines. Not recommend for young children.

★★★★★ — Joyce , Nov 2020

This is a great park there are many places for great views of NYC. While there are some challenging trails the good views can be reached by the majority of folks with all levels of hiking experience. The way the trails are laid out gives you a lot of options for doing pretty much any length hike you wanted.

★★★★★ — Patrick , Nov 2023

Great area for a hike. Multiple paths that lead to amazing views. Easily banged out 7.5 miles but also was staggered through the woods (not on a set path). Came across a beautiful lake neighborhood as well as a stone house frame. A few photos are attached

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
