Confirmed from Oakes Quarry Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring a former limestone quarry, plus ponds, trails for hiking and fossilized remains.
What runners say about Oakes Quarry Park
“Super gorgeous quarry, great eco system variety, gorgeous rocks, gorgeous trees, flowers, sounds, mulberry trees, graffiti art, every thing is truly lovely and beautiful.”
This is a very unique place. It is an old rock quarry with a few ponds and some hiking trails. I found it very interesting, but quite different from most parks. I did not see any playground equipment, but I think they should add some.
This park is beautiful. The trails are well maintained and connect with Pearl's Fen.Oakes Quarry Park has many changing landscapes along the different trails. The parking area is big and has portable restrooms.
The hike in for fossils was about a mile or so in. Some larger stones on most of the paths. Not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers. We spent a while looking for fossils but eventually found some cool ones. MUCH older than even dinosaur species! So cool to see this amazing example of Silurian Age Fossils.
One of the nice places in Fairborn. The most I like about it is that nature is mostly taking care of it. The park is very big and it takes many visits to walk all it’s trails. Also, it has different sets to enjoy, such as a pond, open spaces, and trees to walk in between.
