Confirmed from Observatory Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Quaint green space (a dog-friendly one) with picnic tables, shade trees and oval-shaped paths.
What runners say about Observatory Park
“I’ve enjoyed many walks playing Pokémon Go and talking on the phone while admiring the peaceful views of the plants.”
“This is one of the cleanest and most dog friendly parks in town, and it is in a great neighborhood.”
Very quaint, quiet and rustic. No sidewalks, lush well kept lawn fades naturally into dirt paths. Outside the ring path nature has her way with wild grass, wildflowers and weeds. Kudos to the groundskeepers; Not every inch has to be sterile. One of its many features is quite novel: NO CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND!
I have enjoyed going to this small but lovely park for 3 years. The oval path is perfect for walking, especially if you have a dog. It's very green and lush and has an amazing big Oak tree shading part of the park.
This park is a great spot to relax with a picnic blanket, walk a couple of loops, and learn about space! I’ve enjoyed many walks playing Pokémon Go and talking on the phone while admiring the peaceful views of the plants.
Usually nice and peaceful. Sometimes people let their dogs off leash..which is not allowed. Most of the time it s a nice place to walk your dog on leash

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
