Confirmed from Old Calf Pasture's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Old Calf Pasture
Sunday afternoon hike (December 2025) at Old Calf Pasture (Concord, MA). I parked on the shoulder of Lowell Road, walked the yellow trail to the Planning and Land Management yard, then yellow to the red, and back on the yellow. (Yes, this follows my recent hikes of the old Reformatory Branch rail bed.
Nice hiking area, but also lots of ticks so protect yourself accordingly. Cartop launch ramp is good and you can drive to it. The issue is that you have to park on road. It's very busy and car speed by all day long so you must be hyper vigilant so as not to get hit.
A beautiful and peaceful place where you can just walk and sit for a while or take your boat or canoe down the river for a while-

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
