Confirmed from Old Cutler Hiking Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Old Cutler Hiking Trailhead
Great nature trail. It opens up in the back to some great land and open spaces. Great spot for picnics and the dogs to run free and play. You can see the original fossilized reef that Miami is built on.
Such a great hiking trail right in coral gables. I’ve been there twice already in the last 2 weeks because it’s a great outdoor experience. We park in a small lot off the main road, walk through a wooded area but it opens up to a big grass field.
Entered thru the rougher trail to the right in the parking lot, then hooked a left to the bigger trail. We enjoyed it as well as my Frenchie. Met some nice people along the way.

“One of the best places to take your dogs and kids to see what Florida used to be.”
“I recommend using the restroom before going and taking water because there really aren’t any amenities.”

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
