Confirmed from Oppenheim Woods' own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Oppenheim Woods
“Very nice trail well kept forested area with one finger off to a cute boardwalk with stairs that appears to come up behind the Tippy lake club?”
This is a nice nature preserve which is protected by The Nature Conservancy after being donated by the Oppenheim family. It’s about 60 acres, almost all wooded. There is a small parking lot off Kalorama Road on the north side of Lake Tippecanoe. There is a nice circular trail which is dog friendly.
It was an overall good experience, nice mild walk. Lots of woodpeckers!
The topographical diversity is wonderful here! Very nice trail well kept forested area with one finger off to a cute boardwalk with stairs that appears to come up behind the Tippy lake club? I stopped at the bottom and respected the signs not to trespass. Overall nice loop of about a mile and a half.
Nice trail, but wear long pants and long sleeves cause there's overgrowth in some areas. A few fallen trees to climb over. Not wheelchair accessible.
Trail conditions & character
“It is hilly, so not really friendly for those with difficulty walking on terrain or strollers.”

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.

- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
