Confirmed from Orland Grassland's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Prairie conservation area with a bike trail & walking paths, plus birdwatching opportunities.
What runners say about Orland Grassland
“Orland Grassland is a beautiful forest preserve featuring a 5 mile paved loop trail and some grassy trails.”
“The 5 mi loop is a great exercise - you can jog, bike, or simply walk.”
“We took the bird watching route and there was plenty of animal excrement and not enough tree shade.”
“there are living so many animals and it is really not crowded.”
Absolutely beautiful! First time visiting. I did a 5 mile loop, but there are some connecting paths throughout the loop. Lots of gorgeous animals and scenery.
5 mile paved trail, which is great for hiking, biking, or running. Birds are all over the area, and it seems to be a breezy area. There isn't any shade, so if it's a hot and sunny day take the necessary precautions. I hiked it and two miles in, I was feeling the sun.
The scenery is beautiful. If you take the grassy path please wear bug spray, and be wary of ticks. We enjoyed our walk till reaching a hill near a pound, and then found ticks all over us. Definitely recommend taking the main paved path.
You can walk or run for 5 miles. Good place to go with family for a picnic. Pictures are amazing at sunset.
