Oxbow is one of my favorite open spaces in Loveland. It is quiet and peaceful and I have seen a lot of wildlife there, including deer, hummingbirds, wild turkeys and fireflies. It is a great place for a short hike or bike ride, and a great starting point for riding on the Loveland Recreational Trail loop.
This is a great little loop, lots of little trails down to the water, and it connects to at least one other larger trail. Not crowded at all, but i was hoping to not see dogs since my dog is reactive. AI said this was not popular for dogs but everyone else i saw had a dog with them, which is fine, but be aware.
This is a fabulous year-round destination for dog walkers and nature enthusiast. It’s not uncommon to see kingfishers, grebes, mergansers, and other birds here. This city has done a lot to enhance this open space in the past few years which has been really helpful.
Great place for photos, beautiful. If it’s snowing Wear waterproof shoes if you’re not from the area and used to having slushie feet. It was absolutely freezing but a beautiful day where we were able to get some wonderful scenic shots of the family. Recommend a hot beverage to have if it’s snowing.
