Confirmed from Pelton Pond - Fahnestock State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Calm pond with short trails and picnic tables; a great spot for barbecues.

“Great place for an easy hike with little ones.”

Great place for an easy hike with little ones. Took our 5.5 year old and the loop took us about 1 hour. Plenty of places to sit and have lunch or a snack. Very peaceful and pretty.

A very peaceful, calm place to enjoy one day either for BBQ or hiking or even camping.

★★★★★ — Sara , Aug 2023

Very pretty Nature Trail, 1.5 miles, that meanders around the pond. Connecting trails for cross country skiers & snowshoes. Nice open lodge with 2 fireplaces that overlooks the pond. Lots of picnic tables & fire pits for BBQ. Large parking lot. Imagine it would get crowded in the summer.

Lovely place for a barbecue! We were in the area looking for a park that we could set up a grill and a park ranger told us to come here. It was a great idea and the whole family enjoyed immensely! There is a lake with a hiking park going all around, picnic tables with grills and fire pits nearby.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
