Confirmed from Pemberton Historical Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Sprawling 262-acre conservation area with nature trails & a house museum built in 1741.
What runners say about Pemberton Historical Park
“The plantation wasn't open but looked like a nice building and the grounds were well kept.”
“There is a beautiful historic home on the grounds and a picnic area for you to bring food and or grill.”
Great trails . I am recovering from a diabetic episode and newly diagnosed. This park was perfect for me I could easily choose the Best trail for me and the trails were well marked so I could find my way back. It’s beautiful. I felt very close to God and all creation. Just what I needed.
Your typical nature trails. Much of it interacts with a creek. At times you walk next to the creek and others cross over it on a bridge. Much it is deep woods and full of wildlife. Views of the Wicomico River are visible from a small observation bridge, but there's also an area near the parking lot.
It’s a lovely place to read a book or take a casual hike. It is clean and well taken care of. My favorite aspect is the big yard with the fence nearly all the way around it. I could sit and read while my toddler safely explored the lawn and played with his toy trucks. Big shade trees are lovely here.
We were in town due to a family emergency. Our second day my husband searched for somewhere close by the hospital where he could take me. He found this park. It was so beautiful & historic, just what I needed to get some fresh air and put my thoughts in order.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
