Confirmed from Pine Haven Recreational Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Lots of easy trails and very challenging trails.”

I went on a hike with my dog and enjoyed it very much! I found a single track trail to hike on and although I got a little turned around here and there, it's easy to end up back at the trailhead. There are trail markers out there to follow, as well.

Good place to ride mountain bikes late spring through early fall. Nice single track trail with some technical sections. No sand whatsoever, can be muddy. Bring mosquito repellent. If it's wet out go somewhere else.

I absolutely love this place. It's beautiful. Lots of easy trails and very challenging trails. My favorite place to ride on my horse in MI.

This park is very beautiful and big, lots to see and explore; has a river and a creek flowing through it, lots of interesting trails, and dog and horse friendly. However, this has got to be one of the most mosquito infested parks I’ve ever been to in this area.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

Plan your run at Pine Haven Recreational Area

The practical stuff

  • AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
