Confirmed from Plum Run Prairie Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

👟 good for all levels 2 mentions

“Nice and easy walk through the grassy meadows.”

Trails are well maintained and marked. The trail goes through prairie and woodlands. There is also a stream that is further into the trail. Decent size parking area. There are no amenities.

★★★★★ — Rjd , Nov 2023

This prairie has tons of wildflowers, dragonflies, and butterflies. It’s mostly unshaded and there aren’t any amenities. It’s one of the better of the prairie hikes in Ohio. There’s just a couple of loop trails.

★★★★★ — Thirteendays , Aug 2025

If you love a peaceful hike, just off major highway access, you will love Plum Run. Trails are clean, well mowed. Late summer Prairie and Cedar woods are scenic wonders.

★★★★★ — Carol , Aug 2023

The prairie and woods are accessed via a loop trail (Allegheny Mound Trail) which has a second loop trail (Plum Run Trail) attached to it near the half way point. Very impressive Allegheny ant mounds along the trail of the same name.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
