Confirmed from Porter Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Leafy green space featuring an open field, playground & spray park, plus an old carousel.
What runners say about Porter Park
“The tennis courts are taken care of and are always clean and the playground seems very clean as well.”
“There are playgrounds, swing sets, pavilions, grills, and shaded as well as open grassy areas.”
Porter Park is a great place to come and enjoy the outdoors! There are trees, wide open grassy areas, splash pad for kids, Mary-go-round, tennis courts, outdoor stage, picnic benches and places to BBQ! Come hang your hammock, walk, run, or skate around or play some fun sports in the grass!
My kids love the park ... we just moved To Rexburg... the love running 🏃♂️ Around... And that park is perfect for them... And they feel safe
This park is absolutely beautiful! We were looking for a quiet and chill spot to cop a squat with the dogs out of the heat and to have a little picnic. We found this large, shady park on Google Maps and realized we were fairly close. Despite the road construction on W 2nd we found parking easily.
We love this place! One of the very few areas for locals and "close enough" locals to spend time with their kids and family. Great community. Also has a splash pad area which is wonderful, sidewalks to walk around on, a small carousel, and plenty of room.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
