Confirmed from Prophets Rock Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Prophets Rock Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (97 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Great hiking trail , short , easy and beautiful.”

This is a very cool spot with a ton of history. However, the signage could really be improved. At times, the trails can be a bit hard to follow (and in a couple of places without tree cover, the grass is very thick and long in the summer). The actual prophet's rock is a must see in the area.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. I think maybe they used to clear a lot of the smaller trees and vegetation out because the view was much better. It's more natural now, the old monument is still there, but it's pretty worn.

★★★★★ — Kent , Jul 2019

If you want to see the rock, just walk directly left from the parking lot and it’s right there. If you want to reach it from the ridge line, go up the trail from the parking lot and take a left at the top of the hill.

★★★★★ — Barnes , Aug 2024

Really nice and historic park. The grave stone says that the Prophet sat on the rock and sang to encourage the Potawatomi Indians. If you go up the hill and take a right and keep going you can cross the rode and access the Tippecanoe Battlefield. There’s also some weird Teepees set up.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
