We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Providence River Walk yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

The PVD Riverwalk is on the Providence River and is 2.4-miles long; it's an out and back trail. It's connected to Waterplace Park and lined with a cobblestone walkway. The walk is lined with beautiful views of the city and restaurants. There are bridges throughout which crosses the river.

11.9.24 We found free street parking by Providence Athenaeum and walked down a block to do our walk around the river. Our other option was to park in the garage by the mall. This is an easy walk that's good for all ages with many spots for photos.

Great walk on the riverside. Parking was easy as well. I would love to walk more when I go next time as this time there was a time crunch.

This a very nice of the downtown area to go for a walk. It's right next to the river so the views are amazing. This was my 1st time visiting this city and definitely enjoyed my time there. If you plan on visiting definitely take a walk through here.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
