Confirmed from Putnam river trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Putnam river trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (12 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

It's a really nice area to walk with family or pets. A couple spots bring you right next to the busy road so always make sure you have pups on tight leash or kids next to you. There is plenty of shade and it's a place to get in about 1-2 miles of consistent beautiful scenary.

★★★★★ — Jeffrey , Jan 2026

This is a well maintained river trial, appropriate for bikes and strollers, but I’d say it’s best for easy walking. This is more for the locals than it is a destination for travels. But if you’re in the area, and walk to take a nice stroll, this is nice.

Great place to go and walk along the river and even take the dog for it's daily excersize! Plus there's plenty of out houses !

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
