Confirmed from Quercus Wilderness Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Quercus Wilderness Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (17 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

Of all the parks in Mahaska County, Quercus offers the most secluded tent camping. It is also one of the most wheelchair accessible parks in the county. There is a parking area and path, both made of cement. The cement path is about 430 feet long from parking lot to lookout area.

Very cool area, had to pick up the campsite alot of dead brush but overall a great time. Be prepared for a little walking if you go

★★★★☆ — Kadin , Oct 2023

Was a nice little place. Had a concrete path for .5 miles. Others parts to walk down as well. Not much to do for children though. We didn't stay long.

★★★★☆ — Cheri , Jun 2020

Some wooden structures need replaced where the look out is, but trails are kept up and they keep the area picked up.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
