Confirmed from Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (90 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“This was the most magical and beautiful place.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 10 mentions

“I only found a peaceful experience during this pre-spring trip.”

This was the most magical and beautiful place. It was so very peaceful and quiet. I only wish the trail was very long and winding. But it was so perfect. I can't believe living so close here that I've never been here before.

★★★★★ — Roseann , Sep 2022

Short but beautiful little trail. Only about a half mile out and back, but the slight hills and creek make it a great quick nature get away. Trails can get pretty muddy after a rain.

★★★★★ — Marla , May 2023

Don't be fooled by the short distance here, because there are plenty of things to see! The short loop will take you to the river (higher levels in the fall and spring, of course) and back up the hill, through the woods and a short pedestrian bridge.

★★★★☆ — Nadda , Aug 2023

Small forest trail, usually isn't much traffic. Dogs aren't allowed since it's a preserve, but they aren't missing too much. Nice place to sit and eat lunch, or take a quick walk. Also, I lost a shoe here once, so if you find it please let me know.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
