Confirmed from Red Rock Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Waterfront locale for strolling, picnicking and dog-walking, plus an area swimming ban.
What runners say about Red Rock Park
“very beautiful you can walk jog take your bike bring your kids bring your dog.”
“Also, the ocean being calm and relaxing really does just make the time fly by.”
Red rock park has views of Swampscott beach to left then to right Lynn Beach leading to Nahant Beach. It was great for dogs the wall near beach is noteworthy in height making it feel safe to let the pups get off leash time on the sand.
Very nice to walk and enjoy the ocean air. On-street parking. Doggies on leash. Park benches. Fab views.
For a really early spring and a kinda chilly day, it was beautiful. Still, people are walking around doing exercises. Also the elderly sit around having their conversations. Red Rock Park is definitely an area of Lynn/Swampscott that movies base their local parks on.
Cute little park with tons of benches where you can enjoy water views, and you can also spot the skyline of Boston. If you go to the point, there is a big flat red rock, making for cool photos and I didn't expect that geology.

The practical stuff
- AccessOpen 24 hours — no gate to beat, so a 5am or a 10pm run both work
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
