We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of River Edge Walkway yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about River Edge Walkway

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (10 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

This is a great paved walkway that takes you from the old cement factory grounds, past WOW, through downtown, directly to whitewater park. It’s awesome for longboarding to morning strolls with the wife to bird watch.

★★★★☆ — Joshua , Jan 2020

This is a very well made, well kept, long pathway. There are so many great views and plethora of things to do along this trail. Many parks, play areas, and restaurants while still keeping a lot of natural spaces. There is an ample variety of wildlife.

★★★★★ — Nathan , Jul 2025

North end of the river walk is coming along nicely. Maintenance is needed on some of the amenities. (There were several out of order signs posted.) A public restroom along this section would be welcome too. Many people would prefer not to have to ask for a bathroom key at the ice cream shop, assuming they are open.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
