Confirmed from Riverside Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Riverside Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (126 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It's a clean quiet park that has something for everyone, and well within walking distance from anywhere in downtown.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“Beautiful scenery playground for the kids and Wide Open Spaces of green grass picnic tables and shade trees”

This is a nice little park. We visited there on a Sunday morning after breakfast. People were walking or biking the path. There is a swing area where a mom and giggling daughter were. There are picnic tables under a shelter providing shade or a place for a party. There are restrooms available.

There is plenty of parking and a dedicated canoe/kayak launch for accessing the Illinois Fox River. There is a nice little paved draw down into the water.

★★★★★ — Jared , Mar 2025

Nice and clean, fun walk and nice people that really say hi and let you pretty their dog

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
