Confirmed from Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“Great view from top and hike.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“Seems peaceful and low traffices area.”

The weather was great. It's a great place to hike but definitely needs to be done with a guide. As a first time visitor having someone guide me to complete the entire loop would have helped.

Love this mountain bike trail, the Fullerton Loop. I've done it probably 40+ times now, ...so any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Great place to hike, steep hills to climb and really work on your legs and buns of steel, during the spring I'm sure it's lush and green but for now in the winter the bushes are a tad dry, watch out for bikes.

★★★★★ — Ryan , Jan 2021

Went on a guided tour of this area, very knowledgeable guide and the view is spectacular. There is hiking and bike riding trails in this area, you are right on the edge of housing and right next the wilderness. Fun contrast and well worth the visit.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 7 mentions

“I wouldn't call this much of a hike because it's not that steep, but it's a good place to get a walk with a little bit of work for a nice view.”

“I wish they would allow more trails around the preserve to be open to the public, there’s a lot of the Coyote Hills that are limited despite being mostly public land.”
